This case exceeded my expectations i had after reading some of these peoples reviews. First of all, the fit is perfect. i dont know if maybe some of these people didnt put it on right (it takes a while to get it right) but mine fits snugly.second, It does not feel cheap. The plastic is not very thick but it doesnt need to be thick to protect, it is only there to hold the shape of the silicone. It is the perfect balance of protection and bulkiness.. I had a defender series for my 3gs and that thing felt like a brick.. this one feels just right, not to mention its a lot cheaper than the defender. If youre gonna be rock climbing or working at construction site, then theres no reson why you would want the defender over this case. The screen protector is pretty cool, i dont really see the point of it because the case sits in such way that your screen will not get scratched. i still put mine on and cant even tell its there.. I would highly recomend this case, and no i dont work for otterbox, im just a regular guy that really liked this product and i dont think the reviews on it are very accurate. Thanks!

I am REALLY hard on things! My Itouch's screen is only being held on by it's screen protector, since it's been shattered. It even had it's Speck case on. So I was really worried about the same thing happening to my iphone.
This case arrived from Amazon last week & I'm thrilled! Never had an Otter, but thought for the price I would try it. I love it. For my 3GS I had purchased a Frogs case from Best Buy (At&t sells them as well) for $30. So when I seen the price tag of this one @ $20 I was stoked.
Its the best case I think I could have gotten. I don't like bulky which the Defender series claims to be, so this one can keep up with my active lifestyle and still look sleek and good, I wear a size 4 jeans and it fits in my pockets too, which I think is a plus. The port covers work awesome for keeping dust and pocket lint out! The camera is not hindered in anyway, which is hard to find in this inexpensive of a case.
The construction is phenominal with the silicone layer going on first then the hard plastic covering it. Other people had issue with fit, I didn't in the slightest. Yes it took some finessing it into it originally, but once in place it fits like a glove. (Tip... after getting the silicone part on, work the hard plastic from the top down. Other concerns were on the screen protector being low quality, again I had no such issue. Mine went on as well as OEM apple screen protector (expensive!) It went on easier then the cheap Speck brand, I had no bubbles, (I ended a little crooked my fault though), and the screen looks as bright as it does plain, again something you wont find with low quality screen protectors. Last issue I read & there is a pic of someone saying it had a sharp edge, I have no such problem, I don't think he must have it seated right?, my lays flush with the silicone.
Pros...

-Has a very sophisticated sleek look.
Cons...
-The only issue I have is... some audio out cords don't plug in the top because the case is too thick for the male end to seat all the way properly :(

I was hesitant to order this case because of the user provided photos and feedback. However, I took a chance, and am glad I did!!! The person complaining about the hard plastic near the top of the phone is crazy!!! I tried several positions and could never get it to feel uncomfortable or "scratch" my ear... The case was easy to put together and seems to protect the I-phone extremely well.

I had the otterbox commuter on my previous 3GS and loved it, so I knew I wanted to see what they offered for the iPhone 4. I was hesitant though given some of the reviews but now I've simply concluded that some people are either too sensitive or far too picky for something as simple as a case. It has not once felt uncomfortable to my ears.
The commuter's main job is to protected the entire phone and it does that well. I will admit though that getting both layers on perfectly is a bit of a challenge and took me at least 5-10 minutes to get everything lined up. Once it is on though it is awesome...yes, it will take away the PURE slim profile of the iPhone, but for the level of protection it is not bad at all. Still very pocket-able. I only wish the Apple Logo was not exposed however, but not a big deal (just grab an unused or cheapo screen protector and slap it on over it0
The style of the case is also very professional. If you are one that wants a case to be flashy, this is not it. The lines are sleek all around and the all black finish on both the skin and hard plastic go well together.
My favorite part of this case are:
1) Protects all ports
2) Protects 99% of the phone (1% goes towards that apple logo...)
3) Not overly bulky for a case that has this much protection
Lastly here is one thing I haven't noticed on the reviews but I love. I am one who likes to sit the iPhone on its side to take pictures once in awhile (I do this to avoid hand shake)...the pure FLAT side of the iPhone is the sim card slot side. Unfortunately putting it on that side means the camera lens will also be low since it's on the same side. This case however can stand up on the side where the volume buttons mute/ringer switch is! I was VERY pleasantly surprised when I found out about this. And it's not like you have to do an entire balancing act to get it to stand on the side. Just grab, place on side of desk or whatever, and it will sit there as it is.

I am totally pleased with this product for my iphone 4. I watched the video at Otterbox on how to put it on correctly and had no problems with the screen protector with air bubbles like others commented here. Fits well, all holes are easily accessible. My only con is lack of color choice in commuter for iphone 4.
